A waterfront villa in Devonport reoriented toward the harbour, its formal rooms opened into a single coastal living space that follows the light across the day.
about the project
The house had turned its back on the water, hallways and small rooms severing the plan from the view that defined the site. We reworked the ground floor around a north-facing living edge, letting the harbour and Rangitoto become the room's fourth wall.

Salt-tolerant materials set the tone — limewashed timber, tumbled stone, and marine-grade brass that will silver gently with the sea air. The heritage frontage stays untouched, so the change reveals itself only from within.
